My Art..

With a busy head, this is my peace

Acrylic and emulsion on canvas (xcm x xcm) - With a large wall in the lounge to fill I wanted something big, and punchy. Making use of other left over wall paints, the green contrasting the dark blue with a deep mood. Probably the piece I am most pleased with to date.

Capitolist Hill

Acrylic on canvas (100cm x 80cm) - I wanted to create something here that captured the grandeur of city high-level luxury. Could of been the inside of something, but might have been a bit dark. In this case the scene captures an American inspired scene, a property where its owner overlooks their kingdom, driven by the generation of wealth. In the story, amongst the pristine scene and clean lines, the discarded towel on the floor, and abandoned glass of wine create a discordance; the owner having leapt up at the news their share prices have crashed.

Acrylic and emulsion on canvas (X x X) - My first attempt at something abstract. This was designed with the intention of the colour scheme complimenting the new green paint in our hallway. Its a bit busy, was very experimental, and not exactly something I would be happy with now. But sometimes art is like that...

The Combe

Acrylic and semolina/PVA (X x X) - My first effort at a piece of art, for reasons I cannot even remember now. Inspired by the rolling dunes, and long beach at Woolacombe, amongst other places. It started off very experimental, playing with colour, texture, density and water. Morphing significantly as it grew. I then decided to get even more experimental, initially planning to use sand on PVA for the beach, and for reasons I cannot explain, instead using semolina. Maybe just because a walk to the sandpit meant walking to the end of the garden...

City Break

Acrylic on canvas board (X x X) - wanting to create something for the wall in our kitchen, initially I set out thinking pop-art inspired. I did not end up in that style, but did create something that had a modern, minimalist feel, with a fresh colour palette. Myself and my wife used to really enjoy our weekend city escapes in the land before children, and this idea of an AirBnB apartment somewhere, having a lazy breakfast, captures that feeling of escapism for me.

Rainy Sunday

Acrylic on canvas board (50cm x 40cm) - Inspired perhaps more by how my wife envisions spending a rainy Sunday morning, rather than me. Little excuse to go outside, instead getting cozy, surrounded by soft furnishings, and a good book in hand (ideally without nagging children, who are just out of shot of the canvas board - shame...)
